2016, video, flatscreen tv, tv stand, vinyl
The room-size video installation contains a refective blue vinyl backdrop and a TV stand wrapped in the same blue vinyl material. On the widescreen TV, a series of tech conference imageries and business proposal symbols are wiped out by a feld of blue that blends into the backdrop, rendering the TV to be nearly invisible. If politics relies on aesthetics to become effective, what are the visual elements required for tech conferences to operate? The repeated usage of the color blue; the ritualistic set-up that incorporates circles, fowers, and all kinds of symmetry structures are combined in this work to both isolate and defamiliarize their semiotics.
