2008, 16mm film to video, no sound, 3'8"
Under the influence of experimental filmmakers Stan Brekhage and Tatsu Aoki, I worked on a series of projects while attending SAIC, developing analogue techniques to manipulate film inside the Bolex camera. For China in a Palm, I used cardboards and duct-tape to create an analogue mask that fits in front of the Bolex. I exposed the same film roll over 20 times to construct a Cubist landscape of Chicago Chinatown. I also developed the color film using a Russian film tank and chemicals under controlled temperature.
